Speak2Me
Speak2Me was founded in 2020, by two like-minded speech-language therapists who share the same vision that no one should be left out in the communities we live in. We provide specialised speech-language therapy for children and adults. Our focus is to facilitate effective communication skills for greater participation in the community on an equal basis with others.

MEET OUR TEAM
Tey Shi Rou
Shi Rou holds a Bachelor of Speech Sciences from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Following graduation, she discovered her passion for hearing loss and joined Pusat TUTUR UKM’s early intervention clinic for children with hearing loss in 2014, before moving to the Institute of Ear, Hearing and Speech (Institute-HEARS) at UKM from 2015 to 2019. She subsequently co-founded Speak2Me.
She is Malaysia’s first speech-language therapist to achieve the Listening and Spoken Language Specialist certification (LSLS Cert. AVT) from the AG Bell Academy, USA. Her work centres on guiding children with hearing loss and their families through Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT), alongside knowledge-sharing through workshops, lectures, and clinical mentorship.
From 2016 to 2020, Shi Rou served two terms as Assistant Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Association of Speech-Language and Hearing (MASH), leading public awareness initiatives including radio interviews and media publications.
Shi Rou also serves as an AVT trainer and mentor for UKM’s Auditory-Verbal Professional Certification Course, supporting speech-language therapists and audiologists across the region, including Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, and Pakistan.
She is fluent in Mandarin, English, Malay, Hokkien, Hakka and some Cantonese.

Chan Min Yen
Min Yen has been practising as a speech-language therapist since 2013, specialising in Parkinson’s disease and movement speech disorders. She holds a Master of Health Science (Hearing & Speech) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where her research on intensive voice therapy for individuals with Parkinson’s disease was subsequently published in an international peer-reviewed journal. She is LSVT LOUD certified with hands-on experience delivering the programme locally.
She began her career at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) before co-founding Speak2Me Centre. While her special interest lies in Parkinson’s disease, she sees a range of adult cases including voice disorders, aphasia, and dysphagia, providing services at the centre and through home-based visits to patients’ homes and nursing homes.
MinYen lectures at local universities, contributes to public awareness through radio appearances and webinars, and is a member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society. She has also served two consecutive terms on the MASH Executive Committee from 2018 to 2022.
Min Yen is fluent in Mandarin, English, Malay, and Cantonese, with working knowledge of Hokkien.

Oo Kah Pheng
Kah Pheng holds a Bachelor of Speech Sciences and a Master’s degree, both from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), obtained in 2001 and 2015 respectively.
Her passion for oral motor therapy was sparked in 2006 when she had the opportunity to learn from Ms Sara Rosenfeld-Johnson, a leading figure in oral placement therapy, during Ms Sara’s only visit to Southeast Asia. This formative experience led Kah Pheng to pursue advanced learning in the field, training under internationally renowned experts including Ms Debra Beckman, Ms Lori Overland, Ms Robyn Merkel-Walsh, Ms Renee Roy Hill, Ms Suzanne Evans Morris, Ms Marsha Dunn Klein, Ms Patricia Oetter, and the PROMPT Institute, among others.
Kah Pheng specialises in supporting infants and children with feeding and swallowing difficulties, drawing on a diverse and evidence-informed clinical toolkit.
In 2021, she expanded her practice to include orofacial myofunctional therapy, deepening her understanding of the complex musculature involved in breathing, eating, and swallowing. She is committed to sharing her knowledge and experience with parents, professionals, and the wider public through workshops, talks, lectures, and clinical mentorship.
Kah Pheng is fluent in Mandarin, English, Malay, Cantonese and Hokkien.

Christine Yu Lee Mei
Christine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sunway University, graduating with First Class Honours in 2008, and a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Reading, UK, completed in 2012 with Merit.
With over 12 years of clinical experience, Christine specialises in childhood language disorders and social communication. She is trained in evidence-based programmes including Hanen-It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words, and Social Thinking by Michelle Garcia Winner. Her practice encompasses both individual and group therapy, with extensive experience running social skills groups tailored to different developmental needs.
Christine is a strong advocate of the family-centred approach, working closely with parents and caregivers to extend communication development beyond the therapy room.
At Speak2Me, she supports children from early childhood to early adolescence in building effective communication skills and confidence in everyday settings.
She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Malay.
